Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about driver education, lessons, and road tests in Nova Scotia.
How long does the full driver education program take?
The full driver education program includes 25 hours of theory and 10 hours of in-car driving. Theory can be completed online at your own pace or through scheduled in-person classes. In-car lessons are scheduled based on availability and student progress. As we are a provincially certified driving school our students are elgible to do their road tests 9 months + 1 day from getting their leaners license. We suggest to plan the lessons ahead within that time period to make sure they get the proper time for lessons and at home practice as well!
Do you provide the car for the road test?
Yes. Our full driver education packages and road test prep options include the use of our professionally maintained training vehicle for the road test.
I am done my theory, What are the next steps?
Congratulations on completing the theory portion of the course! The next step is to contact the office at info@sackvilledrivingschool.ca with a photo of your plastic drivers license and your best availability. This will allow us to pair you with an instructor that offers lessons during your best availability. To book with the instructor you are paired with we will provide you with a link to access your instructors calendar. The average wait time is about a month to start in car lessons. This is completely normal as we are busy! When booking your lessons we ask that you book one at a time. You will only need to book 9 hours with your instructor. We book the 10th hour as a pre-test lesson for the day of your road test. Our office books road tests so we will need a copy of your road test receipt. You can purchase your road test receipt in person at an Access Nova Scotia office Online
Can parents ride along during in-car lessons?
As per Nova Scotia's Gradauted License program a student with a class 7 learners license, can only have a supervisory driver in the vehicle with them, so parents are not able to join during the lessons. However, we’re always happy to discuss progress, concerns, or questions with parents at any time.
Is there an insurance discount for completing driver education?
Many insurance companies offer discounts for drivers who complete a certified driver education program. Discounts vary by insurer, so we recommend confirming directly with your insurance provider.
